KNOW YOUR ENEMY

God created all the angels. One of them was named Lucifer, now Satan, who became the Enemy of God and all of His children. The Enemy now focuses on the DESTRUCTION of mankind. In order for us to defeat the enemy, we must know as much about him as possible.
​
How much do you know about our Enemy? Is your knowledge today sufficient to recognize and stand against his strategies? For this reason, let me share with you the following Biblical facts about Satan.
​
#1: Satan was the MOST BEAUTIFUL ANGEL in Heaven
Ezekiel 28:13 "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created."
#2: Satan once held a HIGH POSITION in Heaven
Ezekiel 28:14-15 "Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee."

#3: Satan REBELLED AND CHALLENGED God
Isaiah 14:13-14 "For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High."

#4: Lucifer WAS CAST OUT of Heaven.
Revelation 12:7-9 "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

#5: Satan INFLUENCED 1/3 OF THE ANGELS to rebel with him
Revelation 1:20 "The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches." AND Revelation 12:3-4 "And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born."

#6: After his fall from heaven, Lucifer was GIVEN A NEW NAME
Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night."
The name of Satan reveals much of his character. Satan is a Hebrew noun meaning “adversary” – the enemy, antagonist, foe, and opponent. The verb forms of the noun mean to “accuse, be an adversary, and slander (Anchor Bible Dictionary, Vol. 5, 1992, “Satan,” p. 985). Indeed, Satan is the “accuser of our brethren."

#7: Satan IS OUR ENEMY
1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" AND Ephesians 6:11-12 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
#8: Satan INFLICTS HIS ANGER against the human race.
Revelation 12:12 “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”

#9: Satan is the FATHER OF LIES
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

#10: Satan is a MURDERER from the beginning

#11: Satan comes ONLY to KILL, STEAL & DESTROY
John 10:10 "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

#12: Satan’s deception has DEEPLY INFILTRATED CHRISTIANITY
2 Corinthians 11:13, 15 "11 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. . . . 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." AND Matthew 7:22-23 "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

#13: Satan DECEIVES the whole world
Revelation 12:9 "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

#14: Satan can appear as an ANGEL OF LIGHT
2 Corinthians 11:14-15 "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

#15: Satan’s cohorts (evil spirits/demons) can PERFORM MIRACLES
Revelation 16:14 "For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty."

#16: Satan is the GOD OF THIS WORLD
2 Corinthians 4:4 "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." AND 1 John 5:19 "And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness."

#17: Satan is the REAL POWER behind all our world’s kingdoms
Luke 4:5-6 "And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it."

#18: Satan can INFLUENCE people
Luke 22:3-4 "Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. 4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.”

#19: Satan’s demons can POSSESS the unsaved and can DEMONIZE Believers
UNSAVED: Matthew 8:28 "And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way." Compare with Matthew 17:14-18, Acts 19:14-16 and Luke 8:27-33.

BELIEVERS: Mark 1:21-26 "And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. 22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. 23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. 26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him."

This man in the synagogue was a "believer" for the time, as Christ has not yet been crucified. He was obviously a believer in God because he hung out in the synagogue. To clarify, Believers cannot be possessed, as possession is synonymous with "ownership." Clearly, after the point of salvation, we are owned by God through the price Jesus paid on the cross. Believers, however, can be demonized by the Enemy and his minions. This will be discussed in more depth on another page in this site.

#20: Satan MUST FLEE if we resist him and draw near to and submit to God.
James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

#21: Satan IS A DEFEATED ENEMY
I John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” AND Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

Indeed Satan has been defeated by Christ. We, however, must battle him and his minions every day we are here on earth.
​
#22: Satan had a real-life ENCOUNTER with Jesus Christ
Luke 4:2 "Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered."

#23: Satan WANTS TO BE WORSHIPED as the ruler of this earth.
Matthew 4:8-9. “Again, the devil took Him [Jesus] up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, ‘All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.’ ”

#24: Satan’s LAST STAND is to enlist as many people as possible to fight against God.
Revelation 2:7-9 "Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.”

#25: Satan will be BOUND for a thousand years
Revelation 20:1-3 "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season."

#26: Satan’s FINAL DESTINY IS to be cast into THE LAKE OF FIRE
Revelation 20:10 “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
So you see, Satan (the Enemy) is real and he is bent on separating ALL mankind from God. God allows him to rule this world for now, but time will come when God will ultimately step in and intervene in man’s affairs. May that day come quickly!

Many Believers think don't have to battle with the Enemy because of Jesus. That is not what the Bible says: Read Ephesians 6:10-18, John 16:33, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, 2 Timothy 2:3-4, 1 Peter 5:8-9.
